| The principal aim of our Association, which is made up
of people from many walks of life, is to further the good relationship between
the towns of Huntingdon and Godmanchester, Salon-de-Provence, Wertheim am Main
and Szentendre. Secondly, although it is not a Civic organisation, it is
recognised by the two Town Councils, and can provide assistance and advice,
based on personal experience, in dealing with our twin towns.
We try to meet these aims by attempting to break down barriers of language,
traditions and ways of life, by encouraging the formation of friendships between
the different nationalities, both by individuals and groups.
We believe that if we encourage these friendships between young people of our
society, then perhaps those barriers will be broken down more easily, or maybe
even not arise. We do our upmost to assist in any twinning exchange project
which involve young people. In school exchanges we assist by providing bursaries
for the less well-off, including visits by Youth Groups. As a prime example, we
organise and sponsor, with financial support from our two Town Councils and
local charities, the Youth Sports Festival held bi-annually in one of the twin
towns.
To do all this requires more money. Therefore, our secondary aims are to raise
cash by the annual fun raising projects, and also from any organisations willing
to help.
