The town of Huntingdon is situated on the river Ouse in Cambridge, it was chartered in 1205 and the town recently celebrated its 800th anniversary. In the 18th and 19th century it was a coaching market town. Huntingdon has a medieval bridge that serve as the main route over the river to and from Godmanchester. The town has two famous members of parliament, Oliver Cromwell in the 17th century and John Major in the 20th century.  Most recently Benedicts Court has been revamped with a new seating area and water feature. In Chequers Court many of the older shops have been revamped with several multi national companies moving into the area, to date a new development of shops is being constricted within this area. On the ring road over the next few years a considerable amount of new development is taking place, at present the new county court buildings are under construction, once this has been completed the 2nd phase will take place with a Library and flats/shops, followed at a later stage with a new bus station.
